One thing is each one of us and quite another are the three monkeys that we carry in our head, and so we have to understand it in order to put these three monkeys to work for our benefit, as we do not know of their existence they are the ones who control us.
No matter what circumstance we are going through in life, some are truly dramatic, yet knowing and using the tools we have around us we can find ourselves and feel better, so that from our present we can consciously weave our future.
- The first monkey, the oldest of all, the largest is called primitive and is where the unconscious is, what is its function? Well, it controls all the unconscious functions of our body, but it is also the hard disk of our computer called the brain, the largest computer in the world. There are all the programs that we acquire throughout our life and without realizing it many of these programs make our life more complicated, for example if we have a program that we are stupid and we are not aware of it, this program runs again and again and that is how we feel when we do not get things, I remember in a process with a boy of 18 years that not having studied he had the conviction that he was stupid because his parents constantly repeated it to him. When he himself recognized that belief and we worked to destroy it, he began to achieve many of his goals and his self-esteem increased even to get some studies. This monkey only wants to eat, sleep, lie down, procreate and does not like anything new and change.
- The second monkey we call limbic, there we find the subconscious, it is where our emotions are, which governs our behavior, its system seeks rewards to activate dopamine which is the hormone of pleasure, so the ignorance of this monkey can sometimes make us seek wrong rewards that eventually become a deadly addiction. It is in charge of labeling everything we live in good and bad….
- The third monkey is called the neocortex, where the unconscious is and it is in the upper part of our brain, this is where we have reasoning and logic, imagination and creativity, this part is what distinguishes us from animals, this very important monkey is very dazed with all the chatter of his other two companions.
What about emotions?
We perceive life through our senses and everything goes first through the limbic system which is where our emotional monkey is, the one that decides what consequences this stimulus has, for example if it is positive or negative or stressful and all this depends on past experiences.
Then all the information goes to a file called hippocampus, sometimes because of a scare or a trauma that information cannot be archived and gets stuck, that makes that many times we repeat that traumatic experience in several examples.
Many childhood traumas are still stuck in adulthood and this makes it very difficult for us in our lives without being aware of it.
Whatever happens in our life, we have to learn to be the owners of these 3 monkeys, and let them work for our benefit, for this a very important formula is to change our communication, our way of communicating with ourselves, molding with a different language our thoughts, generating other emotions and other feelings.
Conscious language creates a better life….
EMOTIONAL RELEASE TECHNIQUE EFT
How much do we love ourselves? How much do we forgive ourselves?
We diagnose, judge and punish ourselves without realizing that this creates beliefs that make us look bad and feel worse.
With this technique we can at least recognize what is happening to us and many times accept what is happening to us without fear, shame or resentment. Recognizing that we are deserving and deserving of feeling good, smiling, pleasure, and happiness.
